  11.         Welcome to the release of Qmail DeLuxe² v1.20!

  13.         If you have already registered your Qmail DeLuxe² reader then
  14.         you may update your reader system from these files.  You do not
  15.         need pay any additional registration fees in order to use this
  16.         release.

  18.         This file contains a list of fixes and new features.  This file
  19.         is in addition to the DELUXE2.DOC file.  If you are new to Qmail
  20.         DeLuxe² we recommend that you browse through this file and read
  21.         DELUXE2.DOC in order to learn how to use Qmail DeLuxe².

  32.     ■   Qmail DeLuxe² now supports up to 800 messages per conference (up
  33.         from only 200 messages per conference).  Now you can get more
  34.         mail at one time without downloading multiple packets.

  36.     ■   The MESSAGES.DAT file is closed before a shell to DOS.  This
  37.         allows programs like BBQWK to work with MESSAGES.DAT.  The file
  38.         is automatically reopened when you return back to the reader.

  40.     ■   Fixed a bug with truncating archive filespecs.

  42.     ■   Changed the FIDO tagline back to "* DeLuxe²"

  44.     ■   The reader determines if LIST should be called on long display

  71.     ■   Qmail DeLuxe² will now let you view a message with 225 lines
  72.         without shelling out to LIST.
  73.  
  74.     ■   Qmail DeLuxe² has full support for a ZIPPY string search.  You
  75.         scan search all messages, messages in only one conference, exclude
  76.         taglines and messages you've already read.
  77.  
  78.         In order to perform a ZIPPY message scan all you need to do is to
  79.         press the letter "Z" while reading messages.  You can search all
  80.         messages in the packet, in the current conference, messages you
  81.         have already read and exclude taglines.

  83.         The ZIPPY function returns you back to the current conference and
  84.         message you were in when you first executed the ZIPPY command.
  85.  
  86.         For more information about the ZIPPY command just press [ALT+H]
  87.         after you press the "Z" command to execute a ZIPPY search.

  89.     ■   Full support for the Sparkware Usenet Gateway is now available.
  90.         If you reply to a Usenet message then the reader automatically
  91.         sets up your reply to conform with gateway standards.  The reader
  92.         even adds the "UN: " to the front of your subject automatically
  93.         or addresses it to USENET GATEWAY (if it is a Usenet mail message).

  95.     ■   Message filespecs for archiving messages are now checked to make
  96.         sure SPACES are converted into underscores.

  98.     ■   Qmail DeLuxe² now checks to see that the target subdirectory
  99.         actually exists before the message is archived.  This lets you use
  100.         archive filespecs like:

  102.                   C:\D2\ARCHIVES\#CONTROL(6)\#CONF#

  104.         So each BBS' archived messages are stored in a seperate subdirectory.
  105.         (Change all #'s to @'s in the above example).

  107.     ■   If you use the "Enter messages without a reply packet on file"
  108.         then DeLuxe² will now check the .REP packet if it exists to see
  109.         which archiver was used to create it.
  110.  
  111.     ■   If a conference was not listed in the conference menu but was
  112.         included in the message packet (or REPLIES too) then the reader
  113.         would display JUNK for the conference name in the message header.
  114.         It now displays the conference number with "-Not on file-".
  115.  
  116.     ■   There was a problem in the way that the reader would handle
  117.         imbedded #PAUSE@ and #MORE@ statements in text files.  Salt Air's
  118.         usage bulletin #15 was a good example of the problem.  Fixed.

  120.     ■   You can specify the DEFAULT archive message filespec from inside
  121.         the program DLXTEXT.EXE.  Record #233 has been reserved for this
  122.         filespec.  It defaults to NOTES.

  130.     ■   The reader now adjusts the number of conferences reserved in
  131.         memory to the number of conferences required by the BBS.  This
  132.         helps cut down on the large amount of RAM required to support
  133.         2,500 conferences.  Qmail DeLuxe² can now support up to 3,855
  134.         conferences!

  136.     ■   Built-in mouse support.  If you would like to use your mouse
  137.         then use the command "DELUXE2 /M" to start the reader.  The LEFT
  138.         button will work like pressing [ENTER] and the right button
  139.         works like pressing the [ESC] key.

  141.         We've included a new DLXTEXT file that contains two new entries
  142.         to support the internal mouse.  Please copy this file over your
  143.         current entry.
  144.  
  145.         Please note that the configuration utility does not support use
  146.         of the mouse.

  148.     ■   Mouse support for left-handed users.  We didn't forget you
  149.         "lefties"!!!   Just use the command line switch "/ML" instead of
  150.         "/M" to add left-hand mouse support.

  152.     ■   If you are using a mouse you can now access a "virtual" keyboard
  153.         from practically anywhere within the reader.  Just press BOTH
  154.         mouse buttons together (or, if you have a three button mouse,
  155.         press the middle button) and select which letter you need.

  157.     ■   DeLuxe² now supports ANSI music!  If you do not want to hear
  158.         ANSI music just turn NOISE off from inside the configuration's
  159.         "Flags" area.  You can also stop ANSI music from being played in
  160.         the current message by tapping the [ESC] key once.  Allow a few
  161.         seconds for the music buffer to finish playing the current bars.

  163.     ■   The DOS command box (displayed when you execute a DOS command)
  164.         has been changed to simply white text on a black background.
  165.         This was done so you can easily use high-intensity backgrounds
  166.         from inside the reader.

  168.     ■   You may now specify more than one file extension mask on the
  169.         command line.  The reader always looks for "*.Q*" files in your
  170.         packet subdirectory.  But you can now use commands like:

  172.                           DELUXE2 *.Q* *.ZX* *.ZIP

  174.         And the reader will locate all Qmail Door 4.00 mail packets,
  175.         mail packets from the XRS mail system for Fidonet systems, and
  176.         PCBoard .CAP files that have been downloaded using the command
  177.         "R A Z" from PCBoard.

  179.     ■   The reader now supports "snow checking" for CGA monitors.  Use
  180.         the command:  DELUXE2 /SNOW  to turn snow checking ON.

  182.     ■   Fixed a bug where messages you replied to in the PERSONAL
  183.         conference would always be redirected to the MAIN conference.

  185.     ■   Fixed a bug in SuperShell that would prevent Qmail DeLuxe² from
  186.         working as a "shelled process" from either RoboComm or QMM.

  188.     ■   You may now "unlock" your message headers and scroll the entire
  189.         message screen at one time.

  191.     ■   The "/ABS" flag would not work in previous versions of the
  192.         reader.  Fixed.

  194.     ■   Added support for three new @variables in the reader.  These
  195.         variables are:

  197.                 @TO@      - Replaced with the "TO" field in a

  199.                 @FROM@    - Replaced with the "FROM" field in a

  204.     ■   You can now add these entries into your DELUXE2.4 menu and have
  205.         the reader reply to the recipient of the message.  See the new
  206.         DELUXE2.4 menu file included.

  208.     ■   The reader will now automatically create the correct Usenet
  209.         message headers if you reply to messages created by the
  210.         Sparkware PCB/Usenet gateway.  The reader also positions the
  211.         message text so the first lines of the message are shown skipping
  212.         the routing information (you can press the [HOME] key to see it
  213.         if needed).

  215.     ■   Qmail DeLuxe² now loads conferences from CONTROL.DAT faster than
  216.         previous versions.
  217.  
  218.     ■   Qmail DeLuxe² will now let you archive messages using file
  219.         extensions and save them in other subdirectories.  If you do not
  220.         specify a file extension then the reader uses ".TXT".  If you do
  221.         not specify a subdirectory then the reader will save the message
  222.         in the ARCHIVES subdirectory.

  224.     ■   Qmail DeLuxe² now lets you archive messages into a database
  225.         program.  If you create a batch in your Qmail DeLuxe²
  226.         subdirectory named "ARCHIVE.BAT" then the reader will export the
  227.         current message to "EXPORT.TXT" and call this batch file passing
  228.         the export filespec as the first parameter.

  230.         This feature allows third party developers to create custom
  231.         database archiving software that easily interfaces with the
  232.         Qmail DeLuxe² reader.  If you are learning more about how the
  233.         reader uses this feature feel free to contact us.  The file
  234.         format for EXPORT.TXT is located in DELUXE2.DOC under message
  235.         exporting.

  241.    These new features will be supported by Qmail DeLuxe² shortly.  We
  242.    are finishing up work on a program named "CVT" that provides you with
  243.    these new features.  Check 'em out:

  246.     ■   Qmail DeLuxe² v1.12 has the ability to read and reply to
  247.         messages produced by the XRS offline mail system for FidoNet
  248.         compatible systems.
  249.  
  250.     ■   Qmail DeLuxe² can also read and reply to messages created by
  251.         PCBoard's own "message capture" facility.  You can use this
  252.         feature to read messages on PCBoards that do not yet own a Qmail
  253.         Door of their own.  While not as "slick" as using a Qmail Door
  254.         to process your mail, this system does work and is virtually
  255.         "seamless" to the user.
